| Historic, walkable, vibrant culture: forts, cobblestone streets, museums, restaurants. Great for starting/ending days, exploring on foot. |
| Excellent for beaches, food, nightlife, central location. Easy access to many guided tours and water sports. More upscale, but many mid-range options exist |
| Beachfront, good mix of resorts + condos + guesthouses. Close to the airport (useful), active but more laid-back than downtown San Juan. Water sports, easy access to day trips. |
| Beach + hip/local vibe; good if you want some beach days, close to Condado/Old San Juan, more character. Art, people, food scenes. |
| Eastern side: Río Grande / Luquillo |
| If you want more nature: rainforest (El Yunque), rivers, waterfalls, beaches, more outdoor activities. Luquillo has good beach-and-food culture. Great for splitting San Juan days with nature days. |
